TGE Group Shortlisted for Innovation Award

5th February 2014

Renewable specialist, TGE Group has been shortlisted for the Innovative Energy category of the Environment & Energy Awards 2014, for its work designing and installing the UK’s largest commercial solar thermal system.

The Awards, widely regarded as one of the highest accolades for sustainability in the corporate sector recognise excellence and innovation in sustainable business practices, with the Innovative Energy category focusing on energy-efficient projects which have shown an innovative approach through the planning, development and implementation stages.

TGE Group's shortlisted entry is a renewable heat system installed for a poultry and game farmer in Shropshire.  The project involves innovative use of solar thermal technology, traditionally associated with domestic hot water, combined with solar PV, to provide efficient under floor heating for two rearing sheds with high seasonal heat demands. The system will bring significant cost and carbon savings to the business compared to previous energy usage.

“To be recognised for the Innovative Energy Award is a great accolade to the company,” said TGE Group Managing Director, Rupert Higgin.  “Whilst we set a high standard for all of our renewable heat and energy installations, we hope that this flagship project will be recognised for the detailed design and installation work that makes it such an impressive system.”
