Natural Energy Heats Up As Weather Cools Down

9th September 2013

Oil is out and natural heat is definitely in as our heat engineers celebrate the completion of a line of biomass and heat pump installations, all ready and set for the cooler weather.

Biomass boilers are topping our list in popularity with district heating systems installed on buildings in Shropshire, Cheshire and Lincolnshire. Large domestic properties, farms, commercial units, a listed wedding venue, school, gymnasium and a swimming pool are all enjoying the switch from oil to wood fuel. Biomass can reduce running costs by 30-50% when replacing oil which is why so many different types of properties are keen to turn their backs on fossil fuels for their heating requirements.

Heat pumps are also a reliable choice for customers looking for large district heating systems. We have recently completed the installation of an air source system to heat 47 apartments in Barking, Essex, and a second installation of a ground source heat pump, for the same developer, to heat a combination of 79 residential units, a shopping centre and police station. We monitor and provide end user billing for these systems on behalf of the client.

With the added attraction of the Renewable Heat Incentive and quick pay back, biomass boilers and heat pumps are definitely worth considering for any new development project, upgrade or renovation.   For large domestic systems, the retrospective introduction of the RHI tariff in 2014 is an added incentive to make the switch.

We have many more exciting heating projects in the pipeline and underway, including a large biomass scheme for a village in Nottinghamshire.  For more information or to visit one of our installations contact our energy team on 0845 653 2528.
